BAYNE
UPDATES POPULAR BTL AND MBTL SERIES OF CART LIFTERS
Redesign is focused on extending lifter life and reducing
maintenance
Greenville,
S.C. (Oct. 12, 2006) — As part of its continuous improvement process,
Bayne Premium Lift Systems has updated its popular BTL and MBTL Series
of refuse cart lifters for extended life and reduced maintenance.
“The BTL Series and MBTL Series offer the most ground clearance in the
industry. They are some of Bayne’s best-selling, most dependable cart
lifters,” says Jimmy Biggerstaff, Bayne general manager. “But even
the best products can be improved. Our customer-focused internal review
teams identified four areas of improvement to make these lifters even
more durable and easier to maintain.”
The design changes have been
made to the lifters’ slider latches. The slider latch is the part of
the lifter that moves up and down to grab and release the cart. The
changes apply to all Bayne BTL and MBTL Series of lifters except the BTL
208 RHK Series, which uses a rotating hook instead of a slider latch to
secure the container to the lifter. |
Changes include redesigning the slider bearing so that it is attached to
the faceplate, eliminating an area of potential contamination and making
it possible to replace the bearings without removing the slider latch.
The mounting of the hook shaft was changed to eliminate any concerns
about it coming loose from the body. A new spring that is 60 percent
larger than its predecessor allows the hook to rotate freely, without
sticking. Finally, Bayne engineers also did away with the connecting
rods that formerly drove the slider latch. These have been replaced with
fixed-length steel slider links. The slider links will ensure that the
saddle is always properly set to handle most ANSI standard two-bar
carts. |

Upgrade kits are
available for existing lifters. To help customers differentiate between
the previous design and lifters that include all the new features, a
break was introduced in the serial numbers. Lifters with serial numbers
of 23000 and above will include the improvements.
